Spencer McKiness is an Associate located in the firm's Lexington office. He is a member of the Torts & Insurance Practice Service Group with a focus in trucking litigation, products liability and personal injury.

Recent Assignments

  • Obtained summary judgment for client in a products liability case regarding injury from lawn equipment
  • Successfully argued to the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals that plaintiff did not produce sufficient evidence to submit the issue to a jury
  • Handled several trucking cases involving international trucking companies and their drivers in personal injury lawsuits
  • Performed on-site initial investigation of a fatal collision between a pickup truck and a semi-tractor trailer. We represented the trucking company and performed the initial investigation on behalf of our client within 24 hours of the fatal collision. We determined through our investigation that the truck driver was not at fault. No suit was filed regarding this matter.
  • Currently defending a nuisance claim against two coal trucking companies

Before Stites & Harbison

Prior to joining the firm, Spencer clerked for the Commonwealth Attorney's Office of Fayette County from September until December 2004. He then clerked for the Fayette Circuit Court Second Division under Judge Gary D. Payne from January until May 2005. He was also an Associate Justice for the University of Kentucky Supreme Court, 2003-05.
